Manufacturing Engineering Tool & Die

Position Description:

  1. Responsible for primary & secondary die casting vendor tools (high/low pressure aluminum & magnesium castings). 2. Interface with engineering, purchasing, and Tier 1 supplier to review product content, tooling RFQ packages, and supplier tooling standards. 3. Work with vendor tooling purchasing to develop and execute tool sourcing strategies for subsystem commodities. 4. Deliver efficient tool cost utilizing on-line quoting, market tests & negotiations. 5. Review the quote packages from Tier 1 (including commercial and technical requirements) in support of sourcing processes, ensuring compliance with client's Global Terms and Conditions. 6. Review tooling cost break downs and evaluate for efficiency. 7. Understand tooling targets and develop strategies to deliver tooling to target. 8. Develop and maintain common tool designs and tooling standards. 9. Collaborate with engineering, Tier 1, and tool shops to optimize tool and part design intent vs. total cost impact. Drive tooling optimization through process, cavitation, tool standards. etc. 10. Assess tool shop capability and evaluate capacity for inclusion in qualified tooling supply base. 11. Lead tooling discussions as client's tooling representative as required for technical reviews. 12. Ensure the timely and accurate completion of Tool Breakdown Sheets (TBS). 13. Drive lessons learned and upstream tools and process improvements. 14. Resolve timing issues with supplier, engineering, and program team as required.

Skills Required:

  1. Tooling design / engineering for die cast tooling 2. Proficient in Microsoft suite of tools 3. Excellent communication skills (verbal, effective listening, presentation)
